This section will mainly focus on traveling. After high school and graduation, I started to fell in love with traveling and experiencing different cultures. Exploring the world can offer you so much, ''it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller'' (Ibn Battuta).
My first and last big travel (2014) consisted of a volunteer job, a safari, and a beach vacation. Firstly, I traveled with my Dutch friend to Johannesburg, South-Africa, before we went on a safari through one of the most famous parks of Southern Africa; Kruger National Park. This trip was amazingly beautiful, we even spotted the Big Five multiple times including the lion, rhinoceros, elephant, leopard and buffalo. The Big Five refers to the five most difficult animals in Africa to hunt on foot. After the safari, we ended up in Swaziland to teach basic English and mathematics to vulnerable children. Another incredible experience which made me widen my horizon. Finally, we went on a relaxing trip to Mozambique to explore the beautiful islands, beaches and surf spots.
Unfortunately, this African experience is described in a Dutch blog and written on my former website. You can find the blogs in the archives below if interested. Hopefully, a lot more (English) blogs will be published in the future as soon as I start travelling again.
For example, I have a big trip planned for the Summer of 2019. That summer, I will participate in the "4K For Cancer" run from the West coast (San Francisco) to the East coast (Baltimore). I will be part of a team of college-aged students from the "Ulman Foundation" to raise money and awareness for cancer. During this trip, I will post daily updates on my travel Instagram acount and weekly updates on my blog. Click on this link if you want to read more about this run and why I need your help to achieve my fundraising goals!
To read about the tremendous cities I have travelled to, you can look at my Architecture & Engineering (English) and Lifestyle (Dutch) blog posts.
Enjoy!
